A democracy needs Journalism and the First Amendment because Journalism is an art. It brings the truth to those who do not know it. A democracy is a political system that relies on the people to elect their representatives. The First Amendment gives the people the right to express ourselves freely and without it, Journalism would be nothing but the English language. There would not be any news stories because the people would not have the right to speak aloud or address their thoughts. Without Journalism, the people would not know who to elect because they would not know the truth about the democracy's representatives. A democracy, Journalism, and the First Amendment all complement each other in one way or another. Without either of the three, there would be an imbalance in our government. A democracy will always need Journalism. The people need information and how else are they going to get it without the fortifying truth allowed by the First Amendment? Journalism is defined by reporting information and truthful information will always have its time and place.
